FontDiscovery is a weekly design and creativity newsletter for creators, founders, makers...essentially anyone interested in being more creative and razzle-dazzle their visuals, marketing projects, products, and more!
Every week, I create visual examples, short explanations, use-cases, dos, and don'ts for a specific font and introduce to you design concepts and actionable creative prompts. you will find tips about:
Fonts and what they communicate
Design or marketing idea, creative concepts to help you brainstorm
Color inspiration featuring exciting images, like important movements in art history
Who are you?
I'm Hua, a designer and bootstrapping founder building Typogram, a brand design tool. As part of running Typogram, I create this newsletter to help founders, creators, and makers step up their game in marketing and get creative!
I want to know a little more!
Sure! I was born in China, grew up in Maryland, US. I studied design at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where I got a full scholarship to study art. After college, I caught the bug and moved to NYC, where I worked as a designer on everything from tech, art exhibitions, fashion magazines. During this time, I also got very interested in the tech side of design, like font creation and coding. To satisfy my curiosity, I enrolled in a typeface design program at the Cooper Union, where I got a chance to learn everything about fonts and design from the best of the best. During this time, I also taught myself coding. A little later, I got my MFA and started my business.
I have a lot of passion for design, creativity, tech, and entrepreneurship. I hope, through this newsletter, we can be friends. If there is one tip that could help you with something, I will be very happy 🌻
